Tennis...They wore it
- Venus Williams is known for wearing skimpy dresses too small for her, but this one, which she wore at the 2001 Australian Open set some kind of record -- she had to keep tugging the pieces together throughout her
first round match. By the next match, she'd had it sewn shut.
- Andre Agassi is an elder statesman now, but back in 1990 he was a brash 18-year-old
who showed up at the French Open looking like this and calling
French Open patriarch Philippe Chatrier a bozo for reacting with a threat to require
"mostly white" clothing like Wimbledon does.
- Sampras spent several years in the early 1990s wearing shorts that, after a set or two, unquestionably looked as though he'd peed in them. "Why does he wear those?" one of my younger friends asked at the time. It's a mystery, all right.
Front...They did it...They said it...They decided it...
