Controllers

I'm currently evaluating a Scalextric Protec C.8000 Hand Throttle with a 30 ohm resistance.

The 3.5mm mono jack was cut off and a three pin plug attached in it's place using the live and neutral connectors.

and a Parma International HO Plus Controller 25 OHM # 218-B again the 3 crock clips were cut off and replaced with the 3 pin BS plug. The lead is a bit on the short side but much heavier gauge. The extra cost of flexible cable to extend the leads was considerable and heat shrink sleeving was used to protect the connections and keep the leads together.

The Parma controller at more than three times the price including the extension cable is worth every penny in my opinion as the breaking makes a real difference to the drivability of the cars.

To date one has failed with a winding burning out where it is attached to the full power end. By unwinding a turn and re soldering it works but without the level of control. It remains to see if they are reliable in the long term.
