CIDADE DE GOA BEACH RESORT
Location Within easy access to the capital Panaji and approx 45 minutes north of the airport. This resort is built on a hillside in extensive, lush tropical gardens leading to Vainguinim beach.
Accommodation Built in Mediterranean-style in a delightful mixture of Portuguese and Indian architecture. The 210 mainly sea view rooms have a double bed or twin beds, are air-conditioned and comfortably furnished in a variety of styles and have a fridge, TV with satellite channels, direct dial telephone, hair dryer and most have a balcony or terrace.
Facilities A wide variety of restaurants including 2 air-conditioned restaurants 'Miramar' the main restaurant for daily buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and 'Alfama'. Designed as a Portuguese town square, for a special a la carte evening meals offering Continental and Goan specialities. For outdoor dining (Nov-Apr) 'The Barbeque' for grilled food and the 'Tantan' for Chinese food. There is also a coffee shop, casino, 3 bars including 'Bar Latino' the poolside bar and 'Adega' the sportsbar. 2 swimming pools (1 for children), 2 floodlit tennis courts, badminton, volleyball, health club, gymnasium, sauna, beauty parlour and shopping arcade. A range of watersports is available (Nov-Apr). Regular evening entertainment includes beach barbeques (Nov-Apr), folk dances and bands.
Opinion The friendly atmosphere at the Cidade makes it popular with British clients and is ideal for for a relaxed, informal holiday. The hotels design makes it unsuitable for those with walking difficulties
