Welcome to the new look PPC
The Editor lays out what’s in store…
Regular readers of everything at keyword:PPC
on AOL might
have a bit of a shock when they log on in the evening of
20th December –
it won't be there. Practical PC will be
leaving AOL after a period of some 5 years of publishing updates
every weekday, and taking its place right here at
www.practical-pc.co.uk
bringing you updates, as before, every weekday. AOLers who have
found their way here will note that it all looks very different - as
it should.
The new layout is very simple to follow – all
navigation is at the left of the page, with the major areas up at
the top, and the sub-sections of each area below, in the
blue-bounded box. It doesn’t matter where you are in the magazine,
you can always get to any section in a couple of clicks.
If you need to get back to the front page, the
Practical PC Logo is clickable on every page, and takes you straight
back to the day’s updates. Of course, not everybody logs on every
day, so we’ve also got a short index of the last
few days’ worth of updates at the bottom
of the index page (Home page) so
they don’t miss out.
Problems and letters
We’ll also be picking up on the problems in our
message
board areas, and one of the team will be expounding on one of
them each week, to give a full explanation of the solution.
We've also implemented a full
site search, so that you can find articles on whatever topic
interests you - it's easy to use, and produces excellent results.
Web Building
We’re also going to be guiding you through the
process of building your own website with straightforward,
simple-to-understand guides that should help you create
fast-loading, easy to use and read sites that your visitors will
want to come back to again and again. The Surfer from Hell will also
be reporting regularly on the worst excesses of Webmasters who let
their enthusiasm get the better of them, and who seem to have their
good taste out of the window.
We here at Practical PC hope you enjoy the new look
and continue to enjoy the magazine through the years ahead. We’re
proud to be bringing you the kind of articles you want to read,
and we’re looking forward to greeting more and more of you as time
goes by.
Remember, if you like what you see, tell a friend.
If you don’t, then please tell
us!
