 Better graphics in AOL

Sometimes when you browse Web sites in AOL their graphics don’t look quite right. PPC has the fix for you.

AOL has always been keen to speed up the surfing experience for its members, and one way it does this is to, by default, re-compress graphics into a .ART format, which can really screw up images.

For the best graphics quality, follow this simple procedure.

  • Click on My AOL at the title bar of AOL.

  • Click preferences.

  • Click the WWW icon.

  • Under the AOL Internet Properties, select the Web Graphics tab.

  • Remove the X from the box for “Use compressed graphics”

Images will now be rendered as either .JPG or .GIF files (.PNGs are unaffected by the .ART conversion anyway) and will display the way the site author intended.
