Practical PC - the Team

PPC’s writers have between them amassed over 100 years of experience in the computing field, to bring you top quality reviews and features each week, written especially for the Web!

Publisher/Editor, David Dorn  has been the editor of: Amstrad PC, PC Base on Micronet and Practical PC. His beginnings in computing go way back to the mid seventies whe he first discovered the delights of microchips and hex displays. As he gets older, his monitors grow larger and larger.... He's been writing about computers since 1984, but he hasn't got a big brother.

This picture doesn't do him justice - his wife thinks he's actually very good looking (as does her guide dog!). He spends some time singing in a band - check out www.strange-brew.com to see!

Dave Cook lives near Newcastle in the North East of England. He is married to Denise, a nurse, and boasts three grown-up daughters, one very cheeky son-in-law, two fun-loving grandsons (he married young!), and one faithful but extremely whacky Springer Spaniel.

Dave now earns his living as a freelance computer journalist. He has been writing reviews, features, and technical pieces (even a little fiction) for more than a decade, his articles having been published by some of the UK’s top computer magazines. Despite this, Dave still can’t believe that he actually gets paid for doing something that he truly loves. To discover more about Dave Cook, his work, and his family, please visit www.d-cook.co.uk.

Don Bradbury has been a contributor to the computing press for over a decade and is author of the book ‘A Guide To Personal Computing’. He has written for upwards of fifteen computing, scientific, and technical journals, including Practical PC from it’s inception.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and was employed as a scientist and Systems Manager before retiring early to pursue his other love, writing. He currently has consultancy interests in science-based industry.

Kai Chandler has contributed to Personal Computer World, Palmtop, Computing Today and Practical PC. His interests include children's educational computing, multimedia applications and website design.

When not writing for PPC Update, he is an IT Manager with an international Bank, has an MSc in Computing Science from Imperial College and a recent MBA. His hobbies include sailing and scuba-diving.

His wife Jane, is a teacher and they have two children under nine who help as junior software testers!

Ian Waugh is a professional musician and author and one of the UK's leading hi tech writers specialising in computers and music.

He composes music for video and computer games and has written several albums and books including Sequencer Secrets. He's somewhat of an expert in share dealing, and is, his wife says, much better looking than his photo suggests.

Iain Laskey has written for Practical PC, Computing Today, PC Guide, several Atari magazines, a US based on-line magazine as well as various user manuals and guides. His interests range from programming through to game playing.

With 24 years of computer experience, nearly 16 of those as an IT professional, he has covered most roles from repairs through to analysis, design and programming.
