Associates and Fellows of
the British Society of Master Glass Painters
Associates and Fellows are the senior professional members of the Society. They have been elected
by their professional peers and judged for their design ability and competence in the making or
supervision of the making of a work in stained glass. Craft Associates are members judged to be
expert in the technical aspects of stained glass execution. Our Fellows are those artists of
eminence and prominence, most highly respected by the stained glass community. All are judged to
have attained maturity in their craft and to have achieved a significant body of work. The
Society's Articles of Association (revised 1994) defined the categories of membership as follows:
- Associates (AMGP): Members of not less than 25 years of age, carrying on the craft of
stained glass on good standing and able to demonstrate competence in designing and making or in
designing and supervising making in the craft.
- Craft Associates (CAMGP): Members of not less than 25 years of age working in the
craft in good standing and able to demonstration competence in glass execution.
- Fellows (FMGP): Members of at least 35 years of age, who have practised the craft for
at least 10 years. They are those who in the opinion of the BSMGP Fellowship, have attained
eminence and maturity and competence to advise and judge fellow practitioners in the craft.
Fellows and Associates whose work is represented here are amongst those resident in Britain
willing to accept commissions. A full list is available and there are also several overseas
