From Barbarism to Civilisation

Notes on this web site

In many ways, this web site is not really a public web site at all. It is for me simply a means of recording work in progress, as the web format is particularly suitable for linking together disparate items of work in progress. It is not intended to be coherent, certainly not for a long time to come; though I hope it will eventually form a coherent book.

It is here primarily for my own convenience. However it is also intended allow my friends to follow my progress and support me with help and criticism. And should anyone ‘outside’ chance on this web site, then welcome, do browse around. If you enjoy it - or if you disagree - do email me back: I am always delighted to have a response. If you wish to know more, please visit my main web site at www.archaeology.co.uk where you can find out more about me. I hope you too will become a friend!

I might add that at present (March 2006) there are two very different stages of work patched together. There is firstly a synopsis that I wrote around 5 years ago, as an introduction. And secondly there are some more detailed chapters that I have begun to put together in 2005 and 2006. There two versions may not always agree.
